How to Play Tongits

Join a Table

Select your preferred Tongits table stakes from beginner, intermediate, or VIP rooms. Each table seats 3 to 4 players in classic Filipino card game fashion.

Receive Your Cards

The dealer distributes 12 cards to each player (or 13 to the dealer). The remaining deck becomes the draw pile with one card flipped as the discard starter.

Form Melds

Organize your hand into sets (same rank, different suits) or runs (consecutive ranks, same suit). The more melds you build, the closer you get to going out.

Draw and Discard

On your turn, draw from the pile or take the top discard card. Then place one card face-up on the discard pile to complete your turn strategically.

Call Tongits

When your hand has all cards arranged in valid melds with one remaining card, declare Tongits and win the round! Landing all 13 cards in melds means a special bonus payout.

Tongits Winning Strategies

Start by sorting your 12 cards into potential melds immediately. Identify sets of same rank and runs in the same suit to see your fastest path to going out.

Track the discard pile carefully. If the card you need is on top, consider a Fight bonus call, but only when you are certain it completes a winning hand.

Discard high-point cards (Kings, Queens, Jacks, 10s) when they are not part of any meld. This reduces your potential loss if another player declares Tongits first.

Watch opponents' draws. If a player repeatedly draws from the deck, they are likely building a strong hand. Tighten your play and prioritize going out over chasing bonuses.
